Barbara Payton

Lower Makefield Township – Barbara Louise Payton, 71, of Lower Makefield Township, PA died Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Penn Hospice in Rittenhouse in Philadelphia, PA, of complications from Lewy body dementia, a disease she had been fighting for more than 8 years.

Born in Franklin, NJ, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bekiarian.

She has resided in Lower Makefield for 23 years.

Barbara enjoyed working in a variety of fields, artist, decorator, office worker, insurance, auto restoration, among others and was always eager to learn new skills. Barbara was also a mainstay of Newtown United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school supervisor and an enthusiastic member of the church choir. A passionate gardener, she can be found in her flower and vegetable gardens as soon as spring arrives. She was a special person and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Payton; two sons, Arthur R. Riley, Jr. and his wife, Jeneca, of Ringoes, NJ, and Sean R. Payton of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jeff Dansbury of Lower Makefield; his sister, Patricia Culton of New Egypt, NJ; and four grandchildren, Morgan Tasiopoulos, Brayden Dansbury, Sophia Riley and Nova Riley, whom she loved dearly.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 1 at FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, PA, followed by his funeral at 4:30 p.m. The burial will be private.

As Barbara was an avid animal lover, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
