Charles L. “Charlie” Gilbert

Owego, New York – Charles L.”Charlie” Gilbert, 82, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Lynn and Naomi Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Suzanne Gilbert; son, David Gilbert; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Nicholas Harbol; two grandchildren, Lily and Lucas Harbol; sister, Oressa Brown; many nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and dear friends. Charles was a retired LT. Colonel in the United States Army having served three years of active duty and more than 20 years in the reserves. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Charles was a volunteer firefighter and a member of Owego United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY 13827. Services will be streamed live at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com. (Click on Charlie’s obituary) Interment will follow at Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Elmira, NY. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charles Gilbert to Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St., Owego, NY 13827.
