Church in Enterprise overcoming adversity

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – An Enterprise church has had its fair share of break-ins and stolen items since 2014. Now the church is celebrating after the building was completely rebuilt.

Mt Zion Missionary Baptist, located at 885 County Road, has been through many challenges.

Pastor Jimmie Bunch said he camped outside the church for a week to stop burglars while the church was under construction. Through adversity, church leaders were able to pay off the mortgages on the new building.

The church pastor said the congregation suffered from poor conditions in their old church building, but they are grateful for their new church house, which has multiple bathrooms, a kitchen and a baptismal shrine.

“Mississippi mission workers and the Indian Grave Alabama mission, we were all gathered together to watch the damage that was done. I said it was a stumbling block. We are going to stop above and above and observe the marvelous works of God. Here we are today in this building,” said Pastor Jimmie Bunch.

“I hope our ancestors will be so proud of us that we did better than them. We have now left something for the next generation, and I hope they do better than us,” said James Dillard, church member.

The church has existed for 152 years. The pastor says he is looking to expand the church in its next phase.
