Eleanor Ruth Watkins
Wichita – Eleanor Ruth Watkins, 86, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, returned home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Eleanor was born May 18, 1935, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to John and Alberta (Huff) Carlisle. She had 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Eleanor graduated from New Brighton High School in 1954. After high school, she trained as a nurse. She married the love of her life, Jim, on December 2, 1955. Together they had 3 children Bob, Rebecca and Barbara. They recently celebrated their 66th birthday. Eleanor was an avid homemaker and loved working in women’s clothing retail. She worked for many years at Cohill Fashions. She was an active member of the Concord United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She sang in the choir, served in youth ministry, supported local and overseas mission work, and participated in the United Methodist Women‘s Organization. She loved Jesus and lived her faith in devotion to her children. She was a strong advocate for her daughter with Down syndrome. She loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren. Eleanor enjoyed having friends over for dinner and her longtime card club. Coming from a military family, she was devoted to her country and supported the armed forces through volunteer work.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jim, her son Bob, her daughter Barbara, her brothers John, Thomas, David, Robert and her sister Rebecca.
She leaves cherished memories, daughter Rebecca (Bob) Ingram, grandchildren Heather Watkins, Chad, Emily, Megan, David Ingram, brother Lewis (Dee) Carlisle, daughter-in-law Brenda Watkins and dedicated caregivers April Criner -Shaw and Rutha Williams.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. A funeral service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
