Katy Perry to Release Circus-Themed Video Game on Same Day as New Album Smile | London Evening Standard
aty Perry is set to release a circus-themed video game the same day his latest album, Smile, is released.
And if that wasn’t enough, the Fireworks hitmaker also announced earlier this month that she is working on a video game called Katy’s Quest, which is also due out on Friday, August 28.
Fans will know, of course, that Perry, 35, already shared a glimpse of what to expect, in his music video for the title track in July.
In the clip for Smile, Perry picks up a controller and begins playing a circus-themed game, selecting the sad clown character on the screen. In doing so, her outfit changes to reflect that of the two-dimensional figure.
Despite the character’s name, however, Perry’s lyrics are about shaking off the blues and learning to be happy and look to the future. You can watch the full clip above.
While the video clip’s gameplay is mostly created using CGI, it’s not much different from the new game that will be released tomorrow.
Speaking to social media on Wednesday, Perry shared a short trailer, complete with the caption: “Guess what’s going on? #SMILE the album won’t be the only thing to be released on Friday.
“KatysQuest will be out on 08/28 at Alienware.com/Smile. Help me find my smile again (and share smiles with @musicares and @ extralife4kids) while you listen to the new record.”
The pop star tagged charities MusiCares and Extra Life, which work to give back to the music industry and unite gamers around the world to support their local hospital Children’s Miracle Network, respectively.
