Bishops of the Methodist Church in Nigeria have endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for a second term.

The Bishops endorsed Mr Sanwo-Olu’s re-election in 2023 on Tuesday during the opening session of the 39th Council of Bishops of the Methodist Church in Nigeria at Trinity Methodist Church, Lagos.

On behalf of the Bishops, the Prelate of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Uche, hailed the performance of the Sanwo-Olu administration in Lagos State.

Uche said residents should grant Governor Sanwo-Olu a second term to complete the projects he had started and others underway.

“You (Governor Sanwo-Olu) are among the best in governance we have in Nigeria right now. For this reason, I urge that you be allowed to run for a second term.

“This in order to carry out the enviable projects that you have launched and others that are in the pipeline. All the bishops of Lagos will mobilize our members, our votes must go to Sanwo-Olu.

“Although I am not a cardholder of any political party, I am not a partisan either, but I appreciate people for who they are and not for their political affiliation.

“I believe people like you are the ones we should replicate all over the world. The Council of Bishops will be praying for you and other government officials, that we continue to have a very progressive and development oriented Lagos State “, did he declare.

In his address, Mr. Sanwo-Olu thanked the Bishops for endorsing him for a second term, saying, “I humbly acknowledge and thank you for your quiet endorsement of my second term. We cannot afford to fail.

The governor pledged to “continue to serve the people of Lagos. We will serve them without fear or favor, ensuring that the greatest good is for the greatest number.
