Methodist Jennie Edmundson Recognized for STEMI Care | Health and fitness

For the first time, Jennie Edmundson Methodist Hospital received the American Heart Association’s Regional STEMI Mission: Lifeline Award for its commitment to providing prompt, research-based care to people in the region who have suffered a myocardial infarction. with ST-segment elevation (STEMI), the most severe form of heart attack.

Achieving the Mission: Lifeline’s regional recognition includes a commitment to high-quality systems of care among STEMI Receiving Centers, STEMI Referral Centers, 911 EMS agencies, and other support system participants through efforts collaboration, including inter-facility transportation agencies and quality improvement priorities.

Each year, more than 280,000 people in the United States experience STEMI, caused by a complete blockage of a coronary artery. Nearly 40% of people presenting to the emergency room with an acute coronary syndrome are diagnosed with STEMI. Like all heart attacks, this condition requires prompt treatment to restore blood flow as quickly as possible.

Mission: Lifeline is a national community initiative to improve systems of care for patients with STEMI, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), stroke and stroke. out-of-hospital cardiac. The program focuses on streamlining processes to expedite the delivery of appropriate treatment for time-sensitive neurocardiovascular disease states.

Recognition as a Mission: The Lifeline Reception Center is designed to showcase hospitals that provide 24/7 support for STEMI. These important facilities coordinate with a network of referral hospitals and emergency medical services to provide guideline-directed STEMI and NSTEMI care. The facilities also demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the latest research-based guidelines for STEMI care, as outlined by the American Heart Association.
