Ministry targets $10 billion in deals at 37th TEI
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Commerce is targeting deals of up to US$10 billion at the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) this year.
The exhibition will be held offline from October 19 to 23, 2022, at ICE BSD, Tangerang, and online from October 19 to December 19.
“If last year’s TEI recorded transactions of $6.06 billion, then we are optimistic that this year, God willing, it can reach $10 billion,” Trade Minister Zulkifli said. Hasan at the unveiling of the exhibit in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Minister of Commerce said promotional activities, trade missions, exhibitions and business meetings, which currently can only be conducted on a limited basis, will be included in the integrated promotional event.
Under the theme “Strengthening the global market for a stronger recovery”, the 37th TEI could be a turning point for the revival of the Indonesian and global economy after the pandemic.
The Trade Minister said TEI will provide buyers and visitors with the convenience and comfort of being able to see the quality products on display first-hand.
Thanks to digital platforms, interactive activities between sellers and buyers can also take place more efficiently.
Next, as part of an effort to make Indonesia a hub for halal products and global Muslim fashion, Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week will be held from October 20-22, as part of the 37th series of TEI activities.
“We will also work with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and associations to make this event a success,” Hasan said.
Separately, Director General of National Export Development, Didi Sumedi, said the 36th TEI, which was carried out with a digital concept, saw the participation of 8,220 buyers and 32,030 foreign visitors.
“The event recorded a transaction of $6.06 billion,” Sumedi noted.
Therefore, taking advantage of the momentum of the national economic recovery, the Ministry of Commerce is optimistic that this year’s TEI will attract more participants – visitors and buyers, he added.
“Therefore, we are targeting this year’s TEI to be able to attract 1,000 attendees, 66,000 overseas visitors online and offline, with $10 billion in business transactions, a 65% increase over the year. last,” said Sumedi.
The Ministry of Commerce carried out a series of activities to promote the event and the selection of participants both offline and online, involving relevant ministries and institutions, trade offices and business associations.
“We are also cooperating with Indonesian overseas representatives to invite importers from their respective countries to make TEI a success this year,” Sumedi said.
