Otis “OT” Smith. Sr obituary

Otis “OT” Thomas Smith, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Hospice Home. He was born in Alamance County to the late Earl David Smith and Bessie Amick Smith, and was married to the late Sylvia Bailey Smith, who died in 2017.

OT retired after 36 years with Southland/Life of Georgia Insurance Company as a District Manager. He was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, where he held various positions over the years. OT was a senior member of Alamance County Rescue and the Alamance Region Antique Car Club. He loved his old cars and went to auto shows.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Kellie Smith; a doting grandson, Landon Smith and his girlfriend, Emily Leonard; one brother and one sister-in-law, Floyd and Elsie Smith; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; parents; and his siblings, Cecil Smith, Clarence Smith, Ann Chandler, Fayedean Overman and Emma Lee Shoe.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Reverend Andy Wood. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday before the service at the Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at ARMC and Hospice Home for the loving care and compassion shown by OT during his illness.
